WeaveTales’ New American Speakers’ Program Cohort 7 Application Closed!

About the Program

WeaveTales designed the New American Speakers Program (NASP) to vet and train relative newcomers and non-native English speakers to share their experiences of migration and integration into their new community, work, and school environments to meet the growing need for trained immigrant speakers in public venues.

Participants build critical leadership communication skills as they learn to help different audiences understand their messages. They apply a variety of methods to help others better understand people from different cultural backgrounds, leverage their experiences for the benefit of all.

Built into the curriculum are opportunities for students to practice public speaking by creating recordings and by sharing stories live! Storytelling Nights create a safe space for new speakers to share their stories and gain experience speaking in front of a live audience. Especially in an online learning environment, it is critical to create a space where students can gather together as a community. This has proven to be beneficial to building ongoing supportive relationships.
