Refugees in Camps

Due to the limitations in access to resources, many refugees end up in refugee camps set up in remote rural areas. Refugees in camps are mostly registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to wait for resettled in a third country like the U.S. but this only happens to less than 1% of the globally displaced populations. As a result, many refugees are stuck in a decades-long limbo in refugee camps. Our goal for this project is to find and preserve the stories of refugees who were once or are still in camps and understand the way of life and struggles they face in camps.

We are trying to help people with food, shelter, and good facilities, but they struggle with their social life. Someday these people will need to integrate but since life in camps is limited in many aspects, they may not be able to lead a normal life.
